Microsoft Management Console

The Microsoft management Console (MMC) is a unifying tool used to create save and open collections of administrative tools. The tools are added to the consoles, as snap-ins. Computer management is an example of a snap-in for the MMC.
It has three separate tasks:

• Systems tools
• Storage
• Service applications

Snap-ins can take the form of monitor controls, tasks, wizards and documentations controls required to manage many of the hardware, software, and networking components of Windows. You can add items to an existing MMC console, or you can create new consoles and configure them to administer specific system components.
